Threshing Bee & Update
Alrighty, everyone.. just an update. Pretty much all of last week was spent getting ready for the Rosholt Threshing Bee! I am back at work again, glued to the computer until everything is done. I also started my LAST semester at MSUM today, so I will be busy with that in the mornings for a few weeks. After Labor Day, I will start student teaching, so you will have to contact me in the evenings. I will be sure to remind everyone in the September newsletter.
As some of you noticed and asked- No, I didn't have a booth this year in the big building. I am so busy running around trying to catch everything that I never have time to visit with anyone or restock pens, cards, etc. Instead, I had a parade float! Here are some snaps of my lovely hula girls and surfer guy (who looks super happy). Thanks to Becca, Kaitlyn, Alyssa, Grace, Carson, Katie, Kay, Derek, and Travis for riding and handing out the candy and beach balls!

Calendar Girl
This weekend at the studio was a quiet one, as I took the weekend 'off' to focus on school. My oldest brother was also in town, so the family and I enjoyed some hockey and time together. (A hockey post will be coming sometime this week.)
I saved this post for a time when things were quiet, but I have been anxious to post it! Remember our very own, Calendar Girl? Well, here she is in print! I was pretty excited to add this to my collection of work that has been published and I am even more excited for Crystal! Congrats on all your hard work, Crystal! Here is a look at the calendar!

Fuzzy Cheeks Boutique
This Saturday, I had the pleasure of working with Cally from Fuzzy Cheeks Boutique! She brought three adorable models and many of the items in the shop. As long as I've known her, she has always been very creative and I was, once again, impressed with her talent!
She not only has fun items for girls like tutus, ribbons, and bows... but she also has items for boys! The owl hat may be my favorite. Be sure to check out her online shop and here are a few images from the weekend!

Malane's
It was a year ago that my sister in law and I convinced my mom to start her very own Etsy shop. She had made hats and other things that I requested for the studio and they were always a big hit with my clients. So when she started the shop I knew it would be a success! She has spent the year designing new photography props and adorable hats for babies and kids. (She doesn't even use patterns, so you won't find anything like her items anywhere else!)
Now she is featured in a guest post on a popular blog that professional photographers like to follow. This may be a sign that she has officially hit the big time. You can check out her post over at Paperie Boutique and even enter for a chance to win one of her infamous rabbit hat and diaper sets!
Be sure to check out her shop often as she is always adding something new and one of a kind! Her unique designs are not only great for photography, but they are also great for that perfect gift for that little one in your life.

Deluxe Cards
Last Christmas, I sent out Christmas cards from a store. They came in a box. I wrote a message and signed my name. I sent them out. I didn't realize how Scroogey I was being! In the words of my brother, "I got this Christmas card in the mail from a photographer and there wasn't even a picture on it."
Not to disappoint again this year, I went all out for my family and friends Christmas card. Using the pictures that my mom took in September, I designed a card using one of my favorite Christmas quotes.
My 2011 Product Line includes a new 'Deluxe' line of cards. Not just Christmas either. These high end cards will include Graduation, Save the Dates, Birth Announcements, and any other card that is needed! They are such fun shapes and they all include white envelopes. This gives my clients a new and stylish option to make your images stand out from the rest!

Yes, folks. It really is that shape!

After I received the client surveys, most said 'There's a newsletter?' I was heartbroken! Yes! It does exist!
The newsletter comes out at the beginning of each month (normally the 1st) and includes news, my latest work, and a coupon available only to members! Once you have signed up, you are all set for the future months!
To sign up, head back to the website and click on the little envelope in the bottom right corner of the main site. Enter in your name and email address and you're all set!

Updates!
Hey everyone, I just wanted to update you on a few things. First, if you have checked the website calendar lately, you have seen that there are not any available dates marked. Well, this is right! The next two open sessions I have are December 18 and 19. However, I do have a 'waiting list' in case of cancelations. If you are interested in a session, you can sign up for the waiting list. Cancelations do happen.
Second, as you know I am back in college working on my Elementary Education degree. I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that next semester I will be starting PFY. PFY is basically a bunch of hardcore methods classes that teach me how to teach. So, I am going to cut down on the available sessions from January-May. The good news is that I do not have any summer classes to take in 2011, so I will have many many more sessions available! I am even taking a few weddings. (Three so far!) I will be updating the calendar for 2011 as soon as I know my spring schedule. That should be sometime in late October and I will start booking sessions for 2011 in November.
And since blog posts are boring without any photos. Here ya go! :)

Just an Update...
Hello internet world,
I just wanted to update you a little into my life! As of last week, I was all finished with summer classes and I don't start again until the 23rd, so I will be in Rosholt most of the time. This means easier access for you South Dakotans.
And in studio news, this year I am going to offer 'Mini Sessions.' They will be perfect if you want just enough photos to get your Christmas cards done! The date is tentatively set for September 25 and I will post more information as soon as everything is finalized!
And since a blog post is boring without some eye candy, here ya go!

My Spring Project
I have had this table since last August. My aunt found it for $5 at a garage sale! Sweet deal! A few weeks ago, I found the chair. They both needed some love, but I just haven't gotten around to it until this week.
The chair cover before... ick!
Everything after:
Details of this very unique chair!
Beautiful!

I'm a bee, I'm a bee, I'm a I'm a I'm a bee...
As I have posted before, my mom has her own Etsy shop now. She is coming up with lots of great new creations and all of them are totally picture worthy! I called out for a model to use on her site on my Facebook Fan Page and a few people answered the call! I took some pictures of little Baby I this morning. He is almost a month old, but still fits into all the newborn sizes. How ADORABLE is this bee diaper set? It's not on my mom's Etsy shop just yet, but it will be soon! There are also some other photos we took this morning up already!
The blanket he is laying on can be found here. The owner of Cricket's Creations and I worked together to create a Fringie that would look very organic and grassy. I think we nailed it!
Thank you for being a great little model, I! You are cute as can BEE! :) (I had to end with a bee joke.)

I built an arky, arky.....
This is snow being shoveled off the roof of the studio.
This is snow on the sidewalk/street down below.
This is the majority of the snow that was going to eventually leak down the east wall of the studio. :(
Yikes, huh?!
Thankfully, my landlord came right away and it's all taken care of! There were just a few things damaged, but other than that everything is back to normal.
Outdoors is another story. This is the view from across the road at my parents' house.
I can never remember the water going up over the road.
Hopefully the flooding this year won't be as bad as last year, but things aren't really looking up. I think it's going to take a few more nights at Sandbag Central to fight the flood again this year!

Good Luck Raiders!
I love to keep my studio looking in tip top shape and I spent yesterday afternoon cleaning and putting everything back in order. I organized my props back to where they're suppose to be, because after a few sessions - they are all over the place!
Here is the outside of the studio on a normal day:
Here is the studio during basketball districts:
I should have gotten the sign up for girls districts, but I was super busy and just know that I still love you girls. :) I have my old basketball and my pom poms from my Senior year of cheerleading in the window, too.
When I go to games, I normally have my camera in my face.. as you may have seen! I have a bunch of pictures from all the games (football, volleyball, and basketball) and I will be offering a chance for you to purchase them, with the proceeds all going back to RHS. More details on that will be coming towards the middle of the month!
-------------------------------------
I brought Oliver with me to the studio yesterday. He loves to sit near the window and watch outside. I'm just glad I have a good guard dog. :p
